Finally checked out The Grill at 507 in Yelm to find out what all the “smash burger” fuss was about. 

I chose the Deluxe Smash Burger, two custom ground 80/20 chuck patties, American cheese, pickles, red onion, lettuce, tomato, and “goop.”

1 Aesthetics — a good-looking char-burger spilling over the edges of a sturdy golden bun. 6.5

2 Flavor — Tasty, but too salty. The saltiness of the meat overwhelmed any flavor from the other elements. 5

3 Mouthfeel — Different! The patty is charred crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside. 6

4 Quality/Freshness — All ingredients seemed to be fresh and high-quality. 7

5 Integrity — At last: a structurally sound sandwich! 9.0 

6 Atmosphere — A warm, welcoming space with lots of lovely wood and high ceilings,  but too many TV screens. 6

7 Service — Slow and lackluster. 5

8 Satisfaction — I was still hungry. 5

9 Creativity/Uniqueness — Straight ahead. 6

10 Value — Overpriced at $17.50. 4

A bright, airy brew pub with an above average burger.
