Pick-Quick Drive In (Fife WA)

Pick-Quick Drive-In, originally the snack bar for a long-gone drive-in movie theater, has remained a Fife favorite since 1949, serving a simple menu of grilled burgers and fries, hot dogs, milkshakes, and more.

I ordered The 1/4 LB Double Cheeseburger: two grilled beef patties with melted cheese, grilled onions, tomato, pickles, and sauce, on a toasted bun.

1 Aesthetics — A good-looking burger. I especially liked seeing the crispy edges of the two beef patties, with gooey cheese oozing from in between them. Green leaf lettuce would make this sandwich a bit prettier, but I find it’s profile to be quite appetizing as-is. 7

2 Flavor — Very tasty! The grilled onions perfectly complement the well-seasoned meat and tangy sauce. 7 

3 Mouthfeel — Surprisingly good! The charred meat, gooey cheese and onion, fresh, ripe tomato, and crunchy pickles worked together to create a very satisfying bite. 7

4 Quality/Freshness — Burger, bun, and garnishes all seemed fresh and above average in quality. 6.5

5 Integrity — A solidly built sandwich that held together well, but could be improved with a sturdier bun. 7

6 Atmosphere —  This is a cute little canteen with a single walk-up window, charming hand-lettered menu, vintage neon marquee, and a large outdoor dining area in a shady grove of picnic tables. 8

7 Service — They made my chocolate malt right away, so I was able to sip it under the awning as I waited for my burger to arrive, hot off the grill. Remarkably fast, friendly, and efficient service for such a tiny kitchen. 9

8 Satisfaction — Very satisfying, indeed.  7

9 Creativity/Uniqueness — Their menu is simple and classic — not especially creative — which is, in itself, somewhat unique around these parts. 6

10 Value — A terrific value at $6.60! 9

I really like this place and will return. Their burgers are larger, more filling, and more flavorful, with more ingredients, than those from the other famous Seattle-based drive-in franchise. Recommended.
