Another hidden gem in the picturesque hamlet of Snohomish, Macho Burgers is a strip mall restaurant and food truck that focuses on local ingredients and makes fresh, cooked to order burgers, sandwiches, and fish and chips.
I tried The Black Bean Veggie Burger comprising a homemade veggie patty, pepper jack cheese, black bean and corn salsa, mushrooms, romaine, and guacamole, on a toasted bun.
1 Aesthetics — A gorgeous presentation! Gooey cheese, sautéed mushrooms, shiny roasted corn niblets, and crispy patty all look very appetizing, as does the beautiful bun. Would be even better with whole leaf, rather than shredded, romaine lettuce. 8.0
2 Flavor — What a magnificently complex and delightful flavor profile! The veggie patty was charred on the outside, tender in the middle, and bursting with bold, smoky flavors. The umami combo of spicy pepper jack, buttery avocado and earthy mushrooms was mouthwatering. So good. 8.5
3 Mouthfeel — Outstanding! A mouth-pleasing combination of layered textures. 8.5
4 Quality/Freshness — Kudos! Wonderfully fresh, high quality ingredients. Even the bun was exceptional. 8.5
5 Integrity — Strong, sturdy, and beautifully assembled. After I cut my sandwich in half, I couldn’t help but admire the careful construction. 9.0
6 Atmosphere — Like many such strip mall cafes, this joint is clean and functional, without much in the way of decor or ambience. 6.0

8 Satisfaction — Very satisfying. If all veggie burgers were this delicious and filling, I would partake more often. 8.5

Who knew a veggie burger could be macho?! One of the tastiest sandwiches I’ve ever eaten. Highly recommended!
