Date: March 28, 2025

Location: 245 Carlisle Avenue, Onalaska WA

One of my favorite places to go fishing is Carlisle Lake in the little timber town of Onalaska, Washington. Partly because, if you don’t happen to catch any fish — or even if you do! — Loggers Burger Bar is right around the corner.

I happen to love their Jalapeño Burger with bacon, pepper jack cheese, sliced jalapeños, grilled onions, tomato, lettuce, and special sauce on a toasted brioche bun.

1 Aesthetics — Damn, that’s a fine looking burger. 7

2 Flavor — So full of flavor, it almost hurts! 7

3 Mouthfeel — Just what you want: firm and juicy, with all the textures in balance. Mm, hmm. 8

4 Quality/Freshness — Very fresh. 7

5 Integrity — Holds together beautifully, especially if you cut it in half. 7

6 Atmosphere — From the street you might not even notice this faded yellow shack with a small Pepsi sign on its shingled rooftop, but once you step inside, the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with its sparsely decorated wood-paneled walls, sturdy wooden booths and tables, and small lunch counter with only three barstools. 9

7 Service — The sweet ladies who work here make you feel like you belong. Always attentive and efficient. 9

8 Satisfaction — I rarely feel so sated. 9

9 Creativity/Uniqueness — I admit, sometimes I go to Onalaska just to get one of these burgers — they’re that special. 8.5

10 Value — $16.49 includes this big, beautiful burger and more onion rings than a hungry man deserves. 7

I will be back again and again. Enthusiastically recommended.

Total Score: 78.5
