Our region is overflowing with these quaint little mom and pop burger stands, but few are as delightful as Rochester’s Highway 12 Drive-Inn. Their massive menu includes not only burgers, fries, and shakes, but also ice cream sundaes, fried chicken, seafood, chowder, chili, and more!

I went for the Hot Rod burger — meat, cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, sriracha ketchup, and "12 sauce" on a sesame seed bun — substituting grilled onions for onion rings.

1 Aesthetics — Truly beautiful! 8

2 Flavor — Exquisite! The sauces and grilled onions perfectly complemented the meat and cheese. 8

3 Mouthfeel — A satisfying bite! 8

4 Quality/Freshness — Good. 7

5 Integrity — Great. A sturdy sandwich despite the substandard bun and chopped lettuce. 8

6 Atmosphere — The cute car culture decor of their little dining room is most charming. 8.5

7 Service — Excellent! 9

8 Satisfaction — Quite satisfying, tasty and filling. 8

9 Creativity/Uniqueness — The charred burger patty, sriracha ketchup, and grilled onions made for a uniquely yummy flavor profile. 8

10 Value — At $11.49, this burger costs a tiny bit more than the $10 “sweet spot,” but it’s well worth the price. 8

Places like this are precisely why this blog exists. Highly recommended!
