On a tip from a foodie friend, I visited Geri's Snack Shack on Whidbey Island, a popular food truck serving burgers, fries, onion rings, wings, breakfast items, and more, including vegetarian options.

I chose the Papa’s Cheeseburger, a 100% fresh ground chuck patty with melted pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, sliced onion, pickles, and homemade aioli burger sauce on a brioche bun.

1 Aesthetics — Exactly what you want to see: ripe green, red, and purple veggies balanced atop a beautifully grilled beef patty topped with gooey melted cheese, all carefully arranged on a gorgeous golden bun. I couldn’t wait to bite into this burger! 7.5

2 Flavor — Just right. The beef was pink and juicy, just the way I like it, with a firm, smoky char on the outside. Geri’s burger sauce added an extra tangy kick to the flavorful onion and pickle, too. So tasty! 8

3 Mouthfeel — Perfection! Every bite was pure joy. 10

4 Quality/Freshness — Very fresh, high quality ingredients. 9

5 Integrity — A strong, sturdy sandwich, carefully assembled, served up hot, and easy to eat without any mess. 10

6 Atmosphere — It was a pleasure to visit this colorfully painted food truck and enjoy the outdoor seating area (with picnic tables and shade umbrellas) on one of the first sunny days all winter. Bonus: excellent people-watching! 7

7 Service — Helpful, efficient, quick, and friendly. I was able to peek in the window and watch as they prepared my order inside their clean and organized mobile kitchen. 9

8 Satisfaction — A very satisfying experience, both mentally and physically. 8

9 Creativity/Uniqueness — Nothing special, just a classic cheeseburger, but much higher in quality than your standard fast food fare. 6

10 Value — At $15 and change including fries, a decent value. 6.5

I visit this area often and will most definitely be back. Geri and her crew are doing everything right! Highly recommended.
