A longtime Kitsap County Fair vendor, Crazy Eric’s Drive-In has been serving up burgers, corn dogs, ice cream milkshakes, and more, since 1961.

I inhaled the Fried Onion Fair Burger with melted American cheese, grilled (not deep-fried) onions, dill pickle, ketchup, and mustard, on a toasted sesame seed bun.

1 Aesthetics — Not much to look at. 4

2 Flavor — I haven’t had a tasty little grease-burger like this one since my Doggie Diner days, back in 1990s San Francisco! If you’re a fussy foodie looking for subtle and complex flavors, you won’t dig it. But if you, like me, sometimes crave a cheap, old fashioned onion burger, this one hits the spot. 6

3 Mouthfeel — Tough, chewy and greasy. 4

4 Quality/Freshness — The small, flat, low-quality beef patty was overcooked. There were no fresh vegetables at all, just a couple of pickle slices and a mess of translucent grilled onions. 4

5 Integrity — The sandwich assembly seemed slapdash, with cheese only partially covering the patty. A burger this small, with so few ingredients, should be able to maintain its structure, but half the slippery onions immediately fell out onto my lap! 4

6 Atmosphere — Pure nostalgia! I absolutely adore funky little roadside joints like this: a cash only burger shack with walk-up order window, right in the heart of suburban Bremerton. No indoor seating, and extremely limited parking, but you gotta love the colorful wacky look of the place! 8

7 Service — I can imagine this tiny joint getting easily overwhelmed, but on my rainy day visit, service was fast and friendly. 9

8 Satisfaction — Not a great burger by any stretch, but the price was right, and I received precisely the experience I was looking for. 6

9 Creativity/Uniqueness — Nothing special. 4

10 Value — At under $6, half the price of the competition! 8

Like a blast from the past. I enjoyed my visit and may return in the future.
