Swung by Brem Burgerz, a relatively new establishment in downtown Bremerton that shares a kitchen with El Balcon Salvadoran restaurant.
I ordered their single patty Cheeseburger with grilled onion, lettuce, tomato, secret sauce, and extra pickles.
1 Aesthetics — A good looking presentation, except for the pale, shredded lettuce. 6.5
2 Flavor — Surprisingly delicious! The bun was buttered and grilled on both sides, and the patty, although a little dry, was well-seasoned and savory. The lettuce, tomato, and onion weren’t bringing much to the party, but the pickle and sauce more than made up for this. 7
3 Mouthfeel — I would prefer a bigger beef patty, thicker slice of ripe tomato, and an entire leaf of lettuce, nevertheless this sandwich was quite satisfying to bite into. 6.5
4 Quality/Freshness — Very fresh indeed. 7
5 Integrity — Structurally sound except for the shredded lettuce, which adds nothing and falls out the sides. 6.5
6 Atmosphere — My kind of joint: small, simple, sparsely decorated, clean, locally owned and operated, with an order window facing the street and a few small tables inside, adorned with colorful imitation floral bouquets. You can even peek into the kitchen as your food is prepared! 7.5
7 Service — Outstanding service! The friendly gentleman at the window greeted me with a smile and made a few recommendations about the menu. The lovely lady at the grill prepared my burger exactly as I ordered it, and served it up hot. No notes. 9
8 Satisfaction — I’m a happy customer. 8
9 Creativity/Uniqueness — A classic cheeseburger with no surprises. Bonus points for offering Salvadoran and Mexican menu items as well. 7.5
10 Value — At $6.50, a very reasonable price indeed! 8
A no-frills place where you can enjoy both delicious burgers and authentic pupusas? Hell yeah! Recommended.
