Dexter’s Drive-In is a family-friendly favorite among Gig Harbor locals, as well as visitors looking for an authentic taste of Americana.

I stopped by for the Dexter’s 1/3 LB Burger, with sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion and cheese on a sesame seed bun.

1 Aesthetics — Nondescript. 6

2 Flavor — Not bad! The patty was a little dry, but tasty, and completely blanketed in gooey American cheese. The tomato slice was very thin and nearly flavorless, but

wide enough to reach the edges of the bun, which I appreciated. The main flavors of this sandwich were of the generously apportioned raw, sliced onion, and the mostly mayonnaise sauce, which was liberally applied to both buns. 6

3 Mouthfeel — Decent. I liked the fact that I could experience all the ingredients in every bite. Mouthfeel would be improved, however, with a thicker, juicier beef patty, and the satisfying crunch of pickles, a thicker slice of ripe tomato, and whole leaf, rather than chopped, lettuce. 6.5

4 Quality/Freshness — Above average. 6

5 Integrity — A solidly built sandwich. 8

6 Atmosphere — A small but clean hole-in-the-wall with indoor seating in a room with grey unadorned walls. SqueetSquatch recommends taking your order to go, to enjoy a beautiful view of the harbor, just outside! 6.5

Not the best, not the worst, but a solid bang for your buck! Recommended.
